Pathology is derived from the Greek words pathos and logos, which means the science of diseases.
Medical pathology is concerned with the recognition, investigation, and study of structural and functional changes in cells, tissues, and organs associated with underlying disease. With the immunohistochemical and molecular examination methods used today, besides the diagnosis of the disease, it also contributes to the determination of the prognosis and the direction of the treatment.
