Kartal Dr. Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital Radiation Oncology Clinic

In our clinic; There are 6 state-of-the-art radiotherapy devices, each used for different tumor types and regions, and it is the only public hospital in Istanbul with this feature.
Today, the aim in radiotherapy should be to be able to offer “Personalized or Personalized” Ray Treatments with high precision. The fact that the radiation oncology physician has a large number of devices with different features in the treatment planning stage will make it easier to make the treatment "Personalized", thus it will be possible for the patient to reach the treatment in the most suitable device for him.
15 specialist physicians, 3 assistants, 8 health physicists and 22 radiotherapy technicians work in our clinic.
In our clinic, which was established with advanced technology devices, Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRC), Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Image Guided Radiotherapy (GKRT), 3-Dimensional Conformal Brachytherapy (3 BRT), Respiratory Controlled Radiotherapy techniques are applied
In our clinic, our polyclinics are customized as head and neck polyclinic, gynecology polyclinic, lung-sarcoma polyclinic, breast-gastrointestinal system polyclinic, genito-urinary system polyclinic and Stereotaxy polyclinic according to disease locations and/or treatment technique.

Our patients who come to our clinic can apply to the relevant polyclinic without an appointment.

The patient, whose radiotherapy decision is made, is sent to the Computed Tomography unit in our clinic in order to start the treatment planning process and Computed Tomography is taken without waiting.

The patient images obtained are transferred to the Treatment Planning System. Then, the tumor localization and the contouring process in which the anatomical borders of the healthy tissues are determined are performed by the physician. In accordance with the indication and treatment technique, the dose of radiotherapy to be given to the patient is determined and delivered to the Physician for treatment planning. The Physician prepares the optimum plan that will provide the highest dose in the tumor and the least radiation dose in healthy organs, suitable for the treatment technique, and presents it to the patient's doctor. After the physician chooses the best treatment plan for the patient, the patient is treated by the radiotherapy technician. This whole process takes between 1-3 days.

Devices in our clinic to apply these techniques:

1 x Tomotherapy Accuray HDA Device:
It is the top version device in its class that has been put into service in Turkey, and patient recruitment has started as of December 2017. The device's ability to control the tumor with daily tomography allows us to change the targeted tumor volume when necessary, increasing the success of the treatment and reducing the treatment side effects. Especially head and neck tumors, mesothelioma ( Due to its superior success in childhood tumors such as lung cancer), prostate cancer, whole body irradiation before bone marrow transplantation, and medulloblastoma, our clinic is the device primarily preferred by radiotherapy physicians in these diseases
1 x Robotic Linear Accelerator Accuray Cyberknife G4 Device:The device, which is also known as a space scalpel among the people, is considered one of the most successful in its class among the devices that perform radiosurgery. With our extensive experience in tumors below a certain size, we achieve full success in many benign and malignant tumors. Currently, it is the only device that can monitor tumors in real time during treatment. We use it widely, especially in tumors such as brain tumors and early stage lung cancer, adrenal gland tumor.
1 x Linear Accelerator Varian Trilogy Device: 
It is our high-tech treatment device that successfully implements the radiotherapy modality known as IMRT. With the RPM system we have integrated into the device, respiratory-controlled radiotherapy is successfully applied. By preventing overdose, side effects that may occur in the coming years are reduced.
1 x Brachytherapy Nucletron Selectron HDR Device:
It is the highest level technology intracavitary treatment device in its class, which we apply intrauterine in gynecological tumors such as cervix and endometrium.
1 Linear Accelerator Varian Clinac DHX device and
1 x Linear Accelerator Simens Oncor Impression Plus Device: It is used in the treatment of patients with 3D conformal radiotherapy indications.
