About us;
Our hospital opened in 1987 as a 150-bed State Hospital. In 1988, with the commencement of resident training, it became Kartal Training and Research Hospital. In 2000, the name of Dr. Lütfi Kırdar was added to the hospital, making it Kartal Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Training and Research Hospital. As of May 2020, due to our relocation to a new hospital, the name of our hospital was changed to Kartal Dr. Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital.
In 2015, an affiliation protocol was signed with the Health Sciences University, making our hospital also the Health Application and Research Center of the Health Sciences University.
With a capacity of 1,140 beds, our hospital provides training to medical specialization students in 41 clinics, as well as offering services in 56 branches across 17 separate buildings in 5 different districts: Kartal, Maltepe, Adalar, Pendik, and Tuzla. As of June 2020, our hospital is affiliated with the SBÜ Hamidiye International Faculty of Medicine.

Our hospital provides healthcare services to a very large population from outside the city and country, primarily in Emergency, Trauma, Wound-Burn, Cancer Surgery, and Oncological treatments (Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, etc.).
Our Cancer Surgery Clinics are a source of healing for our patients with their up-to-date knowledge and experience in cancer diagnosis and treatment. In the Radiation Oncology Clinic, advanced technology devices such as Cyberknife, Rapid Arc, Brachytherapy, and Tomotherapy are used, and in the Medical Oncology Clinic, patients receive accurate and complete oncological treatments with modern equipment.
We are a hospital aspiring to be a center of excellence in many areas, including Lung Cancer, Breast Cancer, Colon Cancer, Gynecological Cancers, Prostate Cancer, Brain Tumors, Stroke Center, and Wound and Burn Center.
Our hospital, which has the most well-equipped Wound and Burn Treatment Center in Turkey, achieves very successful results in burn and wound treatment. The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Center within this center provides patients with comprehensive wound treatment.
In our Organ Transplantation Centers, kidney and cornea transplants are successfully performed.
With 45 operating rooms, including one hybrid operating room, and 205 Intensive Care Unit beds, our hospital successfully treats critically ill patients.
Our Emergency Medicine Center, being the most well-equipped emergency department in our region, provides emergency diagnosis and treatment to a large number of patients.
The Stroke Center, Diabetes Center, Corneal Transplant Center, Kidney Transplant Center, Wound and Burn Center, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Center, Community Mental Health Center, Breast Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center, ROP Diagnosis and Treatment Center, and Obesity Center are some of the other specialized units of our hospital.
In addition, the 26-bed Hemodialysis Unit, 11-unit Endoscopy Unit, Physical Therapy Unit, Audiology Unit, Urodynamics, ESWL (Stone Breaking), ERCP Unit, Angiography Unit, and Interventional Radiology Unit are other specialized units providing healthcare services in our hospital.
In addition to providing the qualified services listed above, our hospital is among the leading healthcare facilities of the Ministry of Health, holding Baby-Friendly Hospital, Neonatal-Friendly Hospital, Mother-Friendly Hospital, and Health Tourism certifications.
Our hospital is the first hospital in the world to receive both LEED GOLD and EDGE certifications for its energy efficiency and environmentally friendly design.
Our hospital, which has developed and grown by prioritizing patient and employee satisfaction, has been providing healthcare services in a more modern and contemporary environment in its new building since 2019.
Approximately 20,000 patients receive outpatient services at our hospital.
